
Aisling Swaine, Principal Investigator
Aisling is Professor of Peace, Security and International Law at the Sutherland School of Law, University College Dublin. Her research focuses on conflict-related violence and on international peace and security, influenced by her previous professional experience leading humanitarian and peacebuilding programmes globally. She was named one of the world’s 100 Most Influential People in Global Gender Policy in the context of the UN Generation Equality Forum in 2021. She holds a PhD from the Transitional Justice Institute, School of Law, Ulster University.

Christie Nicoson, Postdoctoral researcher
Christie specialises in Peace and Conflict Studies, and her research has focused on knowledge production and community processes of transformation using applied feminist phenomenology and feminist theories to engage with ethics of care climate and environmental politics. Christie completed her PhD at Lund University’s Department of Political Science and as part of the Agenda 2030 Graduate School.

Lucía Poveda Galeano, Postdoctoral researcher
Lucía employs the Theory of Social Mobilisation and an ethnographic method to research the transition from war to peace in peasant communities over 20 years within a rural region of Colombia that has experienced high-intensity violence, incorporating a gender perspective. She has over two decades of experience working with local communities on issues related to armed conflict, humanitarian aid, peace-building, and development, engaging with NGOS and transitional justice institutions. She is actively involved in peace, feminism, human rights defenders, and the Legacy of the Colombian Truth Commission networks. Lucía holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Valencia.

Danielle Petherbridge, Expert Advisor
Danielle is Associate Professor in Philosophy and Director of the Centre for Ethics in Public Life at University College Dublin. She was an IRC Marie-Curie international research fellow in the Philosophy Department at Columbia University, New York, and an IRC postdoctoral fellow in Philosophy at University College Dublin. Her research specialises in European Philosophy, with a specific focus on phenomenology and social philosophy, and the intersections between them in relation to theories of self/personhood and intersubjectivity.

Jonathan Wren, Project Manager
Jonathan is a Research Coordinator in the UCD Sutherland School of Law and Research Assistant with the UCD Centre for Ethics in Public Life. He completed his PhD in Philosophy in 2023 at UCD. His research interests include French and German 20th century thought, classical and critical phenomenology, critical theory, feminist theory and contemporary political theory. He also has experience in project management. In 2024, he was part of the Thinking Changes project which uses philosophy to build empathy, respect and understanding between different groups and communities across the island of Ireland.

Yukta Yadhav, PhD Researcher
Yukta specialises in feminist legal theory and conflict studies, and her research focuses on how gendered harm is produced, experienced, and obscured within Nepal’s conflict and post-conflict contexts. She recently completed her Master’s in International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development programme as an Erasmus Mundus scholar, where she deepened her engagement with international legal frameworks, peace building practice, and feminist approaches to global governance. She has led qualitative research and community-based projects in Nepal on youth participation, governance, and social cohesion, collaborating with civil society actors and research organisations across multiple provinces.
